Breastmilk has been ‘banked’ for nearly 100 years. Now there are 17 banks across the UK, supplying to special care baby units and still saving tiny lives.
There are many reasons why a mother can not breast feed or express for her child so amazing ladies like this step in and offer their own liquid gold . This service is pricess to babies born full term or premature that need breast milk.

A great initiative!
The benefits of breastmilk over formula cannot be over-stated, but this is so much more important for very premature babies whose digestive tracks have sometimes not developed fully to allow them to process manufactured products like cow’s milk formula.
I have known of several babies who developed life-threatening conditions in their bowels and stomachs, which very likely could have been avoided if they received breast milk.
Breastmilk banks could certainly save lives.
