Its finally here and this year we are going to let EVERYONE know what PE is. Our week has gotten off to a great start with an interview on 9am with David and Kim this morning at 9:20am. Both Kartina and Joanne did a fantastic job and we are so grateful for you both taking the time to help us create more awareness. We also have to say a huge thank you to JMM Communications who wrote our fantastic Press Release and secured our great media coverage for 2007. To the 9am show Producer and David/Kim Thank you for taking the time to read more about our cause. I had goose bumps watching this finally seeing something in the media. I have only been apart of the committee for a short time so for those members who have been on for quite a while it must have felt like you were dreaming. Kim and David did a fantastic job and we are so wrapped in their interest. We also learned that Kim actually was eclamptic after her twins were born which I had never heard about before. Be sure to keep an eye out in the press for more interviews in magazines and newspapers both large and local. Also keep you ear to the radio and eyes pealed on TV for our Community Service Announcement and interviews about PE Week Don’t forget to tell everyone you know that its PE Week and to please learn the signs and symptoms as you don’t have to be pregnant to see them. We seriously need to make this something that is spoken about and understood before we suffer at the silent hands of pre eclampis and HELLP Syndrome. Don’t for get to go to the website www.aapec.org.au where you can now view our CSA online along with read personal stories (mine is there) and you can also become a member for $20 a year this is so important to Australian women and their unborn babies so please don’t think it wont happen to me and please don’t just disregard it. You don’t have to be a sufferer to become a member and if you do not want to become a member please consider donations to AAPEC in the name of your loved one or you can also purchase a book.
We thank you for you support August 2007 is the start of bigger and better things to come for the Australian Women and their unborn babies. Knowledge is Power it is out choice to know about these conditions so please don’t disregard them. My own daughter Airlie Fae was born at 27weeks and I had never heard of either pre eclampsia or HELLP Syndrome. It could have been a very different story if I didnt got to my regular check up and thankfully the midwife caring for me did see the signs and that saved both my unborn baby and myself.
